Hi,

I'm thinking about going to Lancaster County to get my LTCF. Has anybody already done this? I heard it's a pretty simple process.

Thank you for all replies.

Yes, search this forum. That story's been told many, many times. (spoiler:has a happy ending)

I just went yesterday to the Lancaster sheriff's office -50 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602. Bring your Delaware driver's license, your Delaware LTCF permit and $20 bucks. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I filled out the forms online, printed out and brought with me which saved me a few minutes. There are (2) forms to fill out:

They make a phone call to the state of Delaware, take your picture, hand you a cheap looking laminated card and send you on your way. By the way, this is a court house complete with metal detector at the front door. No firearms allowed. I left mine secured in my car. There is meter parking on the street within a block of the front door. 25 cents for 10 minutes. I don't think you'll need more then 3 quarters. I took my wife & daughter with me and we made a day of it. Did some outlet shopping and hit a smorgasbord. Permit is good for 5 years so its worth the hour drive even if you just drive up and back.

PA requires the courthouse to provide secure storage for firearms. I know for Chester county I just walk in and turn right before the metal detectors and they have a locker room where you can secure your firearm.

Mine is not due again until next year but I have a friend that lives south of York so decided to check that Sheriff out. Found something interesting there.

Non-Pennsylvania residents must have a license to carry a firearms from the state in which they reside and a valid state ID or Driver's License. You must also either have business, family, or property in York County. You are required to provide us with written verification that you meet the requirements and a copy of your resident state firearms license and your Drivers License or State issued ID with your application.

<heavy sigh> I sure am going to miss not being able to simply mail in the renewal. Lancaster it is I guess, then go over to my buddy's house.
