I know it's only June, but I'm thinking of dove season this September. I will most likely be using a 20 gauge mossberg 500 with a field barrel this time and on public land. What steel shot size should I use? In 12 gauge I used #6, so would I want almost #4 in 20 gauge? Any and all help would be appreciated.

I will give you the answer of... what patterns best in your shotgun.

But, I shoot #7 steel shot and don't have a problem. I think #4 is a bit large for dove, they aren't hard to kill. But that is my opinion only.

Happy hunting!
