Links, links, and more links! (bookmarks/phonebook thread)

Ask and ye shall receive. :D

Well, you heard the man! Post your favorite bookmarks and store info here with the website URL, description, phone numer, whatever, and I'll maintain a list of it all in this post (and give credit where it's due). I have a feeling that this list will grow very quickly, so to keep things simple, I won't categorize everything. Things will be listed alphabetically by name. Then additional info will follow, along w/ a brief description of what kind of products/services the place offers.

Please note: I'll be taking the links you provide and putting them into the main list (first post, below). So your post will be modified by only deleting the links/info you provide, so this whole thread doesn't get so insanely long.

Also, we'll be adding one-lined simple reviews (pro or con) from members on their dealings, experience, customer service, quality, price, etc on these companies/people. The rating system will be something like this:

***** (5 stars) = A = Way above Average / Excellent / Awesome
****- (4 stars) = B = Above Average / Great
***-- (3 stars) = C = Average (neither good nor bad)
**--- (2 stars) = D = Below Average / Poor
*---- (1 star) = F = Way below Average / Fail

I think you get the idea. The more stars the better. The dashes are just place holders.

Oh, don't worry - they will. I'll be putting them all into the same post soon. And I'll give you credit for adding them, too.

I have more to add. I just didn't have time to add all of my bookmarks. And I have a LOT.

Idea: should we include a one-line review of these businesses or sites we've dealt with? And maybe we can use some sort of "star" (smiley) system. 5 stars = awesome and recommended, 1 star = bad to do business with... something like that?

Positive or Negative experiences are always helpful for others to know what/who they're dealing with, and where to spend/save their hard-earned money....

Then, if you actually wrote a detailed review elsewhere on the forum (or other site), a link could be provided for others, too.

Let me know. I have a few reviews I could include right now.

Good ideals, especially since the most common question will be "has anyone ever ordered from ____ , and if so how was your experience?".

With a short one liner, you can get a quick feel for the site/shop however a link to another page could reflect multiple views for example, I may love a shop and had great service but another member may have received broken items or lousy service from the same place. Both experiences should be posted.

Agreed.

Post or PM your "reviews" of the links you already gave (or other ones) and I'll put them under the appropriate company/site.

I'm glad there is a thread like this. We've been shooting in the area for a while and love having an updated list.

X-Ring Supply (local store - ammo, accessories, firearms, gunsmithing, etc)

Newark, DE 19711

***** (dave_in_delaware): friendly, helpful, decent selection. My favorite local gun store.

I've had problems with X-ring in the past, so I haven't gone back. Maybe I should give them another shot. Pun not intended, LOL.

The last issue I had with this guy was when I went in to X-ring to buy a drop in barrel for my Sig P239. It came as a .40 but I wanted a .357 barrel. I walked in, wearing a Sig Law Enforcement Tee shirt, carrying my Sig.

I ask the guy behind the counter if I can order a .357 barrel from them to go into my Sig.

The guy might have well looked at me and said, "This is a gun, it goes bang," for the level of courtesy and professionalism I encountered. One of my biggest indicators of "good" firearm business is how they treat women who walk in the door. I understand that many women who come into any store like that are either new and scared or just going in with their significant other. No matter how many women come in who aren't interested in firearms, when someone comes in who obviously IS, I'd appreciate not being treated like a "girl".
