DC Police Chief: Run, hide or fight during active shooter
http://www.delmarvanow.com/story/news/2 ... /76248364/

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- If you are trapped and face to face with an active shooter - take that person down. That's the advice from DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

Chief Lanier spoke to Anderson Cooper on 60 minutes Sunday about changes in police training in recent terrorist events and a change in public guidelines. The best options are to escape or take shelter but fighting back will save lives because the Chief says police will never get there fast enough. In most active shooter situations, the suspects kills victims in less than 10 minutes. The "best police department will arrive in 5-7 minutes."

During the Navy Yard shooting of 2013, gunman Aaron Alexis killed 10 of his 12 victims in the first six minutes.

While your chances of being involved in an active shooter situation is very slim (less likely than hitting the lottery) police want you to be prepared. The Department of Homeland Security has issued guidelines on how to react and how to fight back, if necessary, during an active shooter situation.

Maybe she should go back and apologize to Gunny Boby who was arrested back in August for possession of an unregistered firearm after a loaded .45 caliber handgun was found in his car. The guy is a combat vet for christ's sake.

This is a DC thing. If your pistol isn’t licensed by DC (and they won’t license it), then any ammunition possessed is considered unregistered and is also a crime. If the GySgt had somehow managed to win a golden ticket to have his .45 registered, if he accidentally had some .22 lr or 5.56mm or 9mm ammo in his range bag, then could still be arrested for unregistered ammo, because the ammo has to go with the gun DC decided to permit you to have.
