27 April, 2008
Season opener for the Delaware Law Enforcement Marksmanship Association. Open to police and civilians alike. We shoot the stock auto pistol course of fire. Forty-eight rounds on a B-27 target from 3 to 25 yards. The yearly dues are $25.00 which pays for the award banquet at the end of the year. Match relays are $10.00. We alternate monthly between the Seaford, De and Sudlersville, MD ranges. Yesterday's match was great with about twenty people competing despite the gloomy weather. I fired two relays posting scores of 459 and 461 out of a possible 480. So, I start the year off with an average of 460. If anyone is interested in competing, I will post the rest of the year's match schedule.

So I'm new here, and new to being active in the shooting community, but I do love competition. I'm familiar with the B-27 target, but what is the actual competition? Is there room for beginners in a competition like this one?

Just got home from the May match in Seaford. I fired three relays today with my best score being a 462-22X. This bumps my season high average to 460.67 points @ 95.97%. That damn weak side barricade stage is still kicking my ass!

Wow. This sounds like it might be fun. And many of those weekends are actually when I don't have my kids!

Do we have to attend every meet during the year?

Do we need enough mags to cover the entire course at a time, or is there time to reload mags?

Would there be an opportunity to get some pointers or training at one of these meets?

This could be a good learning experience I guess...

:pointlaugh: Does the lowest scoring person get ridiculed and banned? Because that would probably be me....

You have to shoot at least once on each range. Your top three scores are averaged for the season total. You do not have to make each and every match. Three mags will get you through the match. Matches start around 0900. Sign up for the 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th relay and watch the first relay fire. Everyone there wants you to do well and enjoy yourself. The only ridiculing is among the guys that have known each other for years!
