Looking at the CMP website (http://www.odcmp.com) the choices for DE are a little slim for a club that will allow you to acquire surplus firearms through their program...

Anyone have a better option nearby (NCC)?
I saw Southern Chester County Sportsmen's and Farmers' Association in Kennett Square (http://www.sccsfa.org)

Anyone have another club that would fit the bill that allows both handguns and rifle firing?

I joined the Delaware State Sportsman's Association which I believe gives you access to the CMP program.

The Del Sports site is a little dare I say, primitive? and doesn't really give much on it...is it just a club to belong to for the sake of being in a club?

myopic, to purchase any surplus firearm, you do have to belong to a club (NRA doesn't count that I can see) along with certification from a range official certifying that you can properly handle and shoot firearms.

As I understand it, they sponsor competitions and also are a gun rights group in Delaware. Nothing wrong with supporting a local group like that. If you are looking for a way to purchase in the CMP program, it's an inexpensive way to go.

After reading the newsletter, they seem like they are an advocacy group - you are right, nothing wrong with being a member of a group like that.

Note: Club membership IS required for purchase of rifles, parts, and ammunition.
From the link I posted. But not all clubs are landed.
