When you reply, uncheck the "Notify me when a reply is posted."

In User Control Panel under "Board Preferences/Manage subscriptions" you can disable current thread subscriptions.

Lastly, in the UCP under "Board Preferences/Edit posting defaults" you can turn the default value for subscriptions to off.
