Anyone have load data for .308 Match Grade? I'll be shooting out of a Savage 110FP bolt action. I'd like to stick with 168 grain BTHP as all the match grade factory ammo I've shot have been good.

I have loaded about 10000 rounds of 308 match ammo. Varget has worked best for me in bolt guns. The book list 46 grains as max for 168 match kings. I use 45 grains. Some have had good luck with 42 grains. IMR 4064 also works well.

Thanks cslade454. Would you have any recommendations on brass, primer, and bullets? I was looking at Varget and IMR 4064 too. I'm going to try IMR 3031 at 39.5 grains for now. They say it duplicates military match loads with match bullets. We'll see, but I'ld like to try the other powders you've mentioned after I burn thru my 1 lb.

In my bolt guns I prefer Winchester brass and federal primers. The Winchester brass lasts longer than Remington or Federal. !68 Match Kings are made by Sierra. In my M1A's (M14) I use Lake city military match brass, Remington primers and 42 grains of IMR 4895 and a 168 Match King. The US M852 use a 168 Sierra Match king and 42 grains of IMR 4895. If you use Military brass you may need to down load a little because the brass is thicker and has less case capacity. MYops load is almost identical to Federals gold match load of many years ago. I tried IMR 3031 for some 16 inch barrel applications. I did not have good luck with it.

When I get brass(new or once fired) I trim it and debur the flash hole. I then trim it after it has been fired every three times. It is important to keep good records like how many time you have fired your brass etc. If you use Sierra 168 Match king to start with set you over all cartridge length to 2.80 inch's
