Wasn't exactly sure where to post this but here seems like a good place...

I have a friend who just acquired a brand new Kimber Ultra Carry II a couple of weeks ago. He is having a heckuva time getting it disassembled. He ordered a tool that is designed to help make the breakdown easier but still can not manage to do so. He's done his research and watched multiple Youtube vids on the process yet it has been to no avail. I don't have any experience with Kimber pistols and even if I did, I only have one good arm at the moment (surgery). Is there anyone who has any tips or tricks they can divulge or would be willing to meet up and school us on the ways of Kimber? I'm sure we'd be able to provide sustenance and some jovial banter for your trouble. :D Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

First thought:
Apparently, there are at least three versions of this tool and your friend must be certain he purchased the proper one for his gun, otherwise he's just spinning his wheels.

I shot the Youtube video to him and he confirmed that was the same tool he received in the mail yesterday. His issue is trying to get the slide takedown pin out. It seems like it's stuck and won't release.

I think you missed my point. It may be the 'same tool', but is it the correct one with the proper dimensions for his gun and how would he determine that from watching the video?

If he has one with the wrong dimensions (one intended for a Colt or Springfield) he would not be able to slide out the take-down pin, which is the problem you describe.

Also, in the video the guy appears to be using the wrong end of the wire tool. It looks to me like the short side he's using is actually intended to be the handle. If the long side were inserted into the hole the guy would have had no issues with making sure it was centered.

Also, if your friend has the properly dimensioned ultra tool, the hole should be held is the same position in relation to the dust cover as the wire tool would hold it, can this be verified visually?
