Republican leader: no special session necessary

WDEL News By: Mike Young

They're far apart on other issues, but Governor Markell and Republican lawmakers agree on one thing: That, they do not need a special legislative session.
With only four legislative days left in this year's session, House Republican leader Dick Cathcart says there's still time to pass a balanced state budget.

Cathcart notes that lawmakers have traditionally waited until the June 30th deadline to pass a budget.

The governor and Republican leaders blame each other for the lack of dialogue in recent weeks.

They still have not had a meeting to discuss differences in the state budget.

House Republicans are refusing to consider the governor's proposal to cut state salaries by eight percent.
