Been OC more the last few weeks. No real encounters. One special case though.

I was in the Acme (Suburban). Situational awareness being what it is, I noticed a guy checking me out as i walked to the ladies' room. It can be hard sometimes to decide if it's "She looks nice today" or "She's got a gun!" checking out.

Upon exiting the restroom he was waiting for me. "Bounty hunter?"

"Nope." I smile and attempt to continue my shopping.

He steps in front of my path to start talking about his buddy who is in fugitive recovery. (My words, not his.) He wants to go be a bounty hunter. He's got a friend who he knows....(insert life story).

I smile again, nod and attempt to keep walking. No luck.

I turn around and walk the other way. Guess who follows.

"I just wondered if you might like to hang out sometime."

"No thank you." /keep walking turn corner

"I just seen that you was carryin' and thought you might like to spend some time with a real man."

My inner monologue is doing two things here. 1.) "I am more of a real man than you will ever be."
2.) "Please don't let me have to make a scene." /reviews Rolodex in brain for options

I open my mouth to turn him down again, when he thought it in his best interest to reach for my (weak side) arm so I would stop walking.

My mother's voice came out of my mouth. She swore one day it would happen.
"I wouldn't if I were you." [emoji35]

He pulled his hand back as though he'd never seen it before and walked away sulking.

Glad you are safe!

That was a great response and result. :applause:

Sounds like he confused your being polite with a "green light" to pester you. Some people are so completely self absorbed they just don't get interpersonal interactions right and don't notice body language.

Thank you. Sadly this politeness that gets confused for a green light is a self defense mechanism. If you turn down a dude cold... I've seen some get violent. At least by saying "I'm sorry" 30 times seems to soften the blow a bit.

It's not even body language if I do a 180 and walk away. Chasing me down after is just beyond the pale.

Stopped by Starquest Shooters' Supply to get my Sig back from its factory tune up. The turn around was incredible. Ten days to mail out to Sig, get it looked at, repaired, fire 60 rounds with three different ammo types, and send it back to me, good as new.

As always, the gentlemen inside treat me with respect and I've never been made to feel like a 'girl'.

Was OCing on my way to see Photog and SigGirl tonight. I stopped to pick up a bottle of wine for SigGirl. I stopped at the first liquor store I spotted. Mistake.
"I'm carrying, I'll be fine." I was fine, but I don't know if that would have been the case had I not been OCing.

The entire store is 1/2 the size of my kitchen.
"What can I help you find?"
"A friend is doing me a favor so I wanted to grab her a bottle of wine to say, 'thanks.'"

"Our wine room is this way."

It's a closet someone took the door off. This is their "fancy" wine selection. 90% of the bottles are under $8.

I grabbed some Cupcake wine and turned around to leave. The dude was blocking the door. Mouth breather. Hoping to get a glimpse down my shirt.
"So what are you doing tonight?"

"My friend is expecting me."

He notices my XD and decided to take the wine and ring it up.

Was never so happy to be carrying.

I think I just bought wine from Norman Bates.

Moral of the story: follow your gut, always.

Yesterday I had a funny "non" encounter.

I was getting dinner items at the Acme. A dad and his Boy Scout were wandering at the same rate I was. A few times I caught the boy noticing my XD out of the corner of my eye.

I can see him doing math in his head. "Girl + Gun =?"

The last time I spotted him he saw me noticing him. He froze. The did the first thing that came to mind.

The robot.

Rather than be caught staring at a strange woman, he did the robot.

Best. Day. Ever.
