I suppose the "rules and regulations" could get even crazier (and vary more) at the Christiana Mall, when you consider the fact that Christiana Mall LLC does NOT own all the property that makes up the mall. While they own 66% of the "pieces" of property, there is still CMA Corp (Chicago, IL) who owns the roads and landscaping on the west side, Macys East who owns their store, and JC Penney Properties who own their store.... so each of those stores could technically have their own policies independent of the Mall's policies. Then there are the stores across the street (Christiana Retail Center), not even part of the mall proper, that are all owned by PR Christiana LLC.

I took the liberty of contacting the Christiana Mall to find out exactly what their firearms policy is. Here is the email I sent:
As a member of Delaware Open Carry and a private citizen, I
carry a firearm on my person daily for personal protection. Many
citizens on this State carry a gun either concealed (with a license) or
open (no license required). I am writing to find out what the Mall's
official policy is on firearms inside the mall, whether carried
concealed or openly. Thank you.
And here is the response I received today:
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your note regarding firearm access at Christiana Mall.
Yes, the official policy is no firearms are permitted in the center. We
have it posted at all of the entrances as part of our basic "code of
conduct".. Our mall is owned and operated by General Growth Properties
and all of their 200+ malls have the same policy. It's designed to
provide our customers a safe, friendly, and comfortable place to shop.
Malls are private property with public access, so we do reserve the
right to enforce policies that we feel are necessary.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Again, thanks for send a
note out for clarification.

I'd have to disagree about the signs at every entrance...

... and that by disarming all the law-abiding citizens that makes the mall safe....

And I'm not 100% sure that GGP actually owns all the property that makes up the mall. That's not what I found out yesterday (see post above). Hmmm....

Is it worth arguing w/ him via email about these points? Probably not.... I hate that mall anyway, and try NOT to ever go there for anything.

I feel better already.... Just knowing the criminals will NOT be taking firearms inside the mall....

I got the same response. I'm tempted to contact GGP and ask if that's corporate policy, if the policy is set at the local level, or if it's even policy at all.
