I was in the store prior to opening day. The guns that customers can handle without being helped by an employee were all trigger locked. It is the same at the Hamburg store and the Wheeling store. I'm sure it is a company wide policy.

The M1917 Enfield .30-06 I was examining had NO lock on it.

I also looked at the Enfield. It was inside the Library. Guns inside the Library are not locked. All guns outside the Library were locked.

I walked in picked it up, cleared the action to examine the bore and spent five minutes looking it over. Nobody said a thing to me.

But even more disturbing I think is the notion that in this situation drawing a KNOWN LOADED WEAPON would be the appropriate response....I understand I am not a known person here do not attend the monthly parties , nor do I broadcast my prior service history in my "signature lines"/screen name .....so as with any "online community" my words will be dismissed as "stupid" /the regulars dogpile whether right or wrong.....but as a combat vet who has had actual loaded weapons in his face and been shot at and hit ...walking through a cabelas and being "swept" by some clown on the sales floor DOES NOT justify drawing on .....and will only perpetuate the negative opinions of oc folks .....
I couldn't agree more...by that reasoning, if I accidently sweep someone with a trigger locked gun in a store, and they draw down on me, the appropriate response would be to disarm them and beat them with their own gun. Doesn't make sense to me. :?

It bothers the crap out of me being swept constantly while there by people who clearly have never been taught the basic rules of gun safety.

I don't care if there are locks or not....I still don't want to be swept by some idiot kid fantasizing about shooting something.

I have to agree, but a simple... "quit sweeping me with the gun" would suffice.
